New series!!! Yet again this one may pass unnoticed because of all the series re-starting this month... From the same producer as 24 and already being nominated as the new "Lost" for being NBC's new greatest bet, The Event presents a man that after going looking for his missing girlfriend, stumbles upon a government conspiracy that is bigger than the president himself. The description as well as the first episode don't aid us on understanding more about the series, probably to add to this conspiracy-mystery enviromment... After the pilot I got more curious and I am definitely going to watch more episodes... Let's see, but I think this series can really surprise us!

Watching Inception this Friday remmembered me of one of the last films I watched in the movies, with some of the friends I went to see Inception. Another film which was really surprising and that I liked very much. This one is also with Leonardo DiCaprio, it's Shutter Island ("A Ilha do Medo" in Portuguese). Very interesting plot, really well constructed with an unespected ending. We left the cinema appalled. It is not as original as Inception, you will not be amazed during the whole film. However, and here I won't say much, 'cause I don't want to spoil the fun, but at some point the story will make a turn that is going to surprise everyone. I also highly recommend watching this movie.
Yesterday I went with a couple of friends to the movies to wath Inception ("A Origem" in Portuguese)... What a great movie! I was impressed. Coimpletly original idea, very catching, extremely well developed, very good ending. Even though this movie takes 2 hours and 28 minutes, you will be on the edge of your seats the whole time without even noticing time passing by. Definatelly a must see!
Yesterday the boxes of the first two seasons of Desperate Houseviwes arrived at home... I know it is a very well-know series, but believe it or not I had never watched it or had the interest to watch it. Maybe because of its name, I had never even read of what it was about... 
Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze are the passionate lovers whose romance is undone when the latter is murdered during a bungled hit arranged by a rival. The clever concept by screenwriter Bruce Joel Rubin (director of My Life) extends outward into comedy (Swayze's character communicates through a sassy medium played by Whoopi Goldberg, who won an Oscar for this role), horror (the afterlife is populated by hell-bound demons and the like), and romantic complications (a handsome suitor, played by Tony Goldwyn, comes on to Moore while Swayze's spirit is still hanging around). Directed by Jerry Zucker, previously best known for codirecting Airplane! and similar broad comedies, Ghost is a careful balancing act of strong commercial elements, but at heart it is a timeless Hollywood tearjerker that easily gets under one's skin. Somewhere between the sharp satire of Election and the rich human comedy of You Can Count On Me lies Juno, a sardonic but ultimately compassionate story of a pregnant teenage girl who wants to give her baby up for adoption. Social misfit Juno (Ellen Page, Hard Candy, X-Men: The Last Stand) protects herself with a caustic wit, but when she gets pregnant by her friend Paulie (Michael Cera, Superbad), Juno finds herself unwilling to terminate the pregnancy. When she chooses a couple who place a classified ad looking to adopt, Juno gets drawn further into their lives than she anticipated. But Juno is much more than its plot; the stylized dialogue (by screenwriter Diablo Cody) seems forced at first, but soon creates a richly textured world, greatly aided by superb performances by Page, Cera, Jennifer Garner and Jason Bateman as the prospective parents, and J.K. Simmons (Spider-Man) and Allison Janney as Juno's father and stepmother. Director Jason Reitman (Thank You For Smoking) deftly keeps the movie from slipping into easy, shallow sarcasm or foundering in sentimentality. The result is smarter and funnier than you might expect from the subject matter, and warmer and more touching than you might expect from the cocky attitude. Page's performance is deceptively simple; she never asks the audience to love her, yet she effortlessly carries a movie in which she's in almost every scene. That's star power. (Amazon)

Crane is a bumbling sort, with a tremendous faith in science over mysticism, and he comes up against town secrets, bewitching women, and a number of bodies missing heads. Christina Ricci, as beautiful as ever, is Katrina Van Tassel, the offbeat love interest who alternately charms and frightens Crane.
