Yesterday I watched Planet Terror, an american action horror movie written and directed by Robert Rodriguez. This movie was released theatrically in North America in 2007 as part of a double feature with Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof under the title Grindhouse, in order to replicate the experience of viewing exploitation films in a "grindhouse" theater. They were also filmed in "retro" style and even put fake trailers between the movies. In much of the rest of the world, including in Brazil, each feature was released separately, with Planet Terror and Death Proof screened in extended versions, and unfortunately here in Brazil Death Proof was only released this semester. (I haven't seen it yet, but intend to do it soon!)
Well, back to Planet Terror, the story is about an experimental bio-weapon beeing released, turning thousands into zombie-like creatures, after that it's up to a rag-tag group of survivors to stop the infected and those behind its release. It was a tribute to the zombie film genre, but it was a bit trashy for my taste... I know Robert Rodriguez' style as well as I know Quentin Tarantino's, but even so. Well, it was interesting at least! But you need to watch it with Tarantino's and Rodriguez' art in mind :)
